The Notification Center

The Notification Center is your own feed of things that concern you across the suite. In VNCboard it lives behind Notifications in the account menu; the badge on that item shows how many are unread.

VNCboard tells you when a board needs your attention, and never when the action was your own:

Event You are told
A board is shared with you Shared with you: — a read-only link to that board is now available.
You are mentioned on a board You were mentioned in — open the board to see the context.
A share link is created on a board you own Share link created: — someone minted a read-only link to your board.

Two rules always hold:

  • You never get a notification for your own action. If you share, mention or create a link, others are told — not you.
  • Mentions are written in board text as @person:<id> (a bare @<id> also counts), so the person on the other end sees a mention rather than a plain name.
  1. Select the avatar in the top bar.
  2. Select Notifications. The feed opens, newest first.

Each row shows the product it came from and a title; selecting it opens the item — a board notification takes you straight to that board.

You can also receive board notifications as push notifications on your device via the per-user ntfy topic. Push notifications are delivered through Web Push and appear in your device’s notification tray.

  • Opening the feed lets you act on individual items.
  • Mark all read clears the unread badge across the products you are entitled to.

Your feed is private to you: a notification belongs to exactly one recipient, and a person can only ever read or clear their own rows. Nothing in the feed is visible to anyone else, and it holds no board content — only a short title and, for a board, a link to it.
