Use VNClagoon as an app (PWA)

Every VNClagoon product — the portal, chat, channels, mail, contacts, task, projects, board, files and the directory console — is an installable app. You do not need an app store and there is nothing to download or sign: you install it straight from your browser. It opens in its own window, gets a home-screen / dock icon, and keeps working offline for the parts that don’t need the server.

This is a Progressive Web App (PWA) — the same app you already use, simply “installed”.

  • One tap to open — no typing a URL, no browser tabs. It lives with your other apps.
  • Own window — no address bar; it feels native.
  • Works offline — the app shell opens without a connection and shows your cached/last state instead of an error page.
  • No store, no updates to chase — it always runs the current version.
  • Sovereign — it is our app on our domain; nothing goes to a third party.
  1. Open the product (e.g. https://portal.src-advisory.com).
  2. Look for the install icon (a small monitor-with-arrow) at the right end of the address bar — or open the ⋮ menu → Apps → Install this site as an app.
  3. Name it (default is fine) → Install. It opens in its own window and appears in your apps / Start menu.
  1. Open the product in Safari.
  2. File → Add to Dock (or the Share button → Add to Dock).
  3. It becomes a Dock app.
  1. Open the product.
  2. Tap the ⋮ menu → Add to Home screen → Install (Chrome usually shows an Install app prompt on its own).
  3. The icon lands on your home screen and opens full-screen.
  1. Open the product in Safari (PWAs install only from Safari on iOS).
  2. Tap Share → Add to Home Screen.
  3. Tap Add. It opens full-screen like a native app.
  • The app shell (the frame, navigation, styling) opens instantly.
  • Your last-loaded content and, in the offline-first products (chat, mail, channels, contacts, task, files), your cached data is shown.
  • Edits you make offline are queued and sent automatically when you are back online — you do not need to re-do them or press anything.

What needs a connection: anything you haven’t opened yet, search over new data, and sending/receiving live messages.

Installing the PWA does not by itself turn on notifications. On your first sign-in you are offered a “Get notified on this device” card — choose Turn on to receive OS notifications (they arrive without Google/Firebase, over our own push rail). For a single always-on tray across the whole suite, install the VNClagoon Notifications desktop app too (see Notifications on your desktop).

  • Update: automatic — the installed app always loads the current version.
  • Remove: desktop — right-click the app icon → Uninstall / Remove; Android — long-press → Uninstall; iOS — long-press → Remove from Home Screen.

Is it safe? Yes. It is the same app, same sign-in, same domain, same data — just installed. It never caches your password, and it caches no one else’s data (only the static app shell and your own device’s data).

Which app should I install? If you want the native desktop or Android builds, start with Get the apps, which explains which family belongs to your organization and where each installer lives.

Do I still need the desktop/notification apps? The PWA is the front door and the offline-read client. Install the native Notifications tray if you want notifications to persist in the background, and the native mobile apps for device features (background sync, camera, biometrics). Most people start with the PWA and add native only where they need it.

Why don’t I see an Install button? Make sure you are on https:// (secure) and not in a private/incognito window, and use a supported browser (Chrome/Edge on Android & desktop, Safari on iOS/macOS).
