Sign in and sign out

VNCfiles uses the suite sign-in. You sign in once for the whole suite and each product opens directly - there is no separate VNCfiles password.

  1. Open VNCfiles from the portal, or open its address directly.
  2. If you are not already signed in, you are sent to the suite’s sign-in page. Complete it once.
  3. You are returned to VNCfiles - signed in. Opening another product afterwards does not ask you to sign in again.

Once you are in, the session is kept alive in the background. If the connection drops, the app keeps working from what it has and the session is renewed when you are back online - see Offline access and the app shell.

Signing out of VNCfiles is a single sign-out for the suite:

  • You are returned to the portal (the shared sign-in page), not left on a bare logged-out screen.
  • The shared suite session ends, so the other products need a fresh sign-in the next time you open them. You do not have to sign out of each one.
  • On the desktop app, signing out also ends the offline session - there is no offline access afterwards until you sign in again.

Use the sign-out in the account menu (your avatar).

If you are asked to sign in while you are already signed in

Section titled “If you are asked to sign in while you are already signed in”

This usually means a stale session was read. Reload the page (or close and reopen the app); the app re-checks the session and, if needed, resumes it without a prompt. If the suite session really ended, complete the sign-in once.

What you can open is decided by access grants in the directory - your membership of a department or team, plus anything shared with you directly. Signing in is the same for everyone; what you see is scoped to your access. See Share a file or folder.
