VNCfiles is the file core of the suite. Every product that produces or needs
a document — chat, channels, mail, projects, CRM, boards, workflow — stores its
files here, in one registry with one permission model. The result is that a file
is a single object with one identity, not a copy per application.
It is more than a shared drive. Files carry metadata, classification and
tags, access is governed by the same grants as the rest of the suite, and
governance — versions, audit, retention, sharing — is built into the product
instead of bolted on with a file server.
- One location, not many. All products’ files sit in one folder tree with one
search, so a document shared in chat can be found in the project without a
second upload.
- One permission model. Access follows the suite’s directory and access grants,
not a separate share list per application.
- Governed files. Classification, tags, versions and an append-only audit
trail make a file’s status and history defensible.
- Corporate or private on purpose. Every file and folder is explicitly either
corporate (governed by the folder’s rules) or private.
- Editable in the browser. Documents can be created and edited online with the
office integration.
- Ask your files. A read-only assistant answers questions about the files you
can access, with citations.

- A project team keeps its documents in one folder; the project page, the chat and
the mail all reference the same file.
- A colleague shares a document with an external party through a share link,
while corporate files stay governed by the folder’s rules.
- A compliance lead exports the audit trail for a regulated folder and checks
the version history of a contract.
- An employee edits a document in the browser without downloading it, and a
colleague reviews the previous version.
- A user asks “what does our travel policy say about receipts?” and gets an
answer with the cited file.
- VNCoffice provides the editing surface for documents stored here.
- VNCmail uses the briefcase and attachments; VNCchat,
VNCchannels, VNCproject, VNCcrm, VNCboard and VNCworkflow
attach files from here.
- VNCdirectory supplies identity, classification and access grants.
- VNClagoon AI powers the file assistant.
- VNCgroupware bundles the file core with mail, calendar and contacts.
