Use the assistant
VNCtask has a built-in assistant that answers questions from your own tasks in plain language. It is read-only: it helps you find and understand work, and never changes anything.
Ask it
Section titled “Ask it”Open the assistant with the floating Assistant button at the bottom-right of the app. Type a question or pick one of the suggestions, for example:
- What’s overdue?
- Summarise my open tasks.
- What’s due this week?
- How do I add a tag to a task?
The answer is drawn from the tasks you can see, and it can cite the tasks it used. Select a citation and that task opens, so you can check the source instead of trusting a summary.
Answers are written for you rather than reasoned out step by step first, so a question about your tasks is answered in seconds.
Choosing where the model runs
Section titled “Choosing where the model runs”The assistant has a provider selector with two choices:
| Provider | Where the model runs | When to choose it |
|---|---|---|
| Server | The suite’s shared AI, hosted by your organisation. | The default; nothing to set up. |
| Local | A model on your own device. | When you want the prompt to stay on your machine. |
With Local, your question is answered by a model running on your computer — the prompt does not leave your device. Choose it from the provider selector at the top of the assistant panel; the choice is remembered for you.
What it will not do
Section titled “What it will not do”- It does not edit, create or delete tasks — it only reads them and answers.
- It answers from your tasks, not from the open internet.
- With Local, the answer depends on the model you have on your own machine; with Server, it depends on the model your organisation runs.
